�2008Season Recap
The 2008 Baseball/Softball season wasonce again atremendous success. �Iwould like tothank all of the sponsors and volunteers for their time, money andenergy thispast year.� We hopethose sponsors whomade contributions up to our signage donor level enjoyed seeing our newsignageon our diamonds this past year.� Wewillcontinue this sponsorship opportunity in 2009.
Improvements for 2008
The WYB Board of Directors has approved the followingimprovements at Schoetz Park forthe fall of 2008and spring of 2009.
��Allof the fields will continue to receiveadditional diamond mix. (This will help with drainage and low spots).
��Field6 is being expanded to accommodate boysseniors games when not being used for girls minors games. (This willhelp uswith scheduling flexibility and make us less reliant on HalePark and/orWhitnallHigh Schoolfor league and tournament games respectively).
��Newfencing is being provided to the backstopand sides on Field 6 and a walk through cut out will be made betweenField 6and Field 7 so Pee Wees and Junior Falcons can exit the field of playeasier.
��Continueto improve drainage problems on allfields and level out the grass infield on Field 5.
�Theseare a few of the improvements you will see for nextyear.� Anyone withsuggestions pleasefeel free to attend a board meeting or send me an email.
�
TournamentTeam Tryouts
We had record numbers attend ourtournament teamtryouts.� Six yearsago, we barely hadenough kids interested to field two boys tournament teams.� This year we had 118 boystryout for six (6)boys tournament teams.� Thegirlsdivision also had tournament team tryouts for three (3) girlstournament teamsand experienced a record turnout. Thank you all for participating inthetryouts.�

PreRegistration for 2008
WYB is always trying to makeimprovements in every aspect ofthe program.� Thisyear we will continuethe pre-registration system implemented last year in an attempt toavoid thelong, long lines at registration.�Amailing will be sent out to everyone that participated this past year.� You will still need tocome to the villagehall at sign up to get your volunteer position and pick up your candybut youwill be able to avoid the general registration line if you pre-register.� We will still have aregistration day foranyone that didn�t pre register.�We hopeto continue to improve the registration process.

GIRLS U-10 BIG WINNERS AT GERMANTOWN

1st PLACE FINISH!!!

The girls U-10�s capped off their 2008 tournament season in spectacular fashion going 4-0 in the Germantown Summer Nights Lights tournament this past weekend. The girls rallied for 6 runs in their last at-bat to take the championship game 11-10. The 10�s played in 6 tournaments this season and finished with a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and two 4th place finishes for an overall record of 20 -18.
The amount of improvement that these girls have made over the last year is truly great considering all but two came from the girl�s minors in 2007. It really speaks to the dedication that they have made as ballplayers to come so far in such a short amount of time.
Coaches Hickman, Nowak, and Haning have enjoyed the wild ride this summer teaching these girls the game and watching them grow as players and would like to thank Renee Caron, Valeri Nowak, Ana Haning, Lauren Lent, Hannah Schein, Amanda Rosenwald, Kailey Matel, Kayla Jaskulski, Emily Hafemann, Kienna Matus, Alex Cimler, Taylor Kulaszewicz, and Christie Hill for their commitment this season!

GIRLS U-12 FINAL TOURNAMENT!!

GIRLS U-12 TEAM TAKES 3rd!!
The U12 Girls Tourney team battled the weather this past weekend to once again place in the Waukesha Firebirds tournament. With another third place finish, the U12's played in 4 tournaments this summer and medaled in 3 with two thirds and a second.
The girls have worked extremely hard this year to improve their games and the results are clear to see.
Coach Wagner, Blount, and Laing would like to thank Liz Thon, Mikaela Nowak, Elizabeth Hafemann, Allie Devine, Sonia Garcia, Brekahn Gasvoda, Hailey Blount, Carly Wagner, Lizzy Menden, MacKenzie Wagner, and subs Kaitlyn VanEls and Amanda Winter for a fun filled year. This team has literally brought us as coaches to tears with the level of play they displayed this year.
Whitnall Girls Tournament ball is in very good shape for years to come.

Girls U-12 Team Dominates New Berlin Tournament!!

After posting a third place finish in their last tournament in Raymond, the U12 Girls Tournament team came back to take 2nd in the New Berlin tournament this last weekend. The girls lost the championship in the bottom of the 7th inning in a very exciting finish.
The girls finish their tournament season this next weekend starting Friday in Waukesha. If you have nothing to do and are thinking about playing tournament ball next year, please come and watch some great softball this weekend.
Way to Go Girls!!

NEW EMERGENCY VEHICLE NO PARKING SPACES

At the request of the Village of Hales Corners, two Emergency Vehicle No Parking Spaces have been striped and signed in the parking lot.
The spaces are located at each end of the parking lot abutting the grass, one by the dumpster and one by the bicycle racks. These spaces will allow access to the fields for Village Ambulances and Paramedics in the event of an emergency.
Please take note of the new restrictions and we ask you to refrain from parking in those spaces. We know how tight parking is at the park but this could literally help to save a life.
