U10’s Take 2nd in Summer SLAM Print E-mail

This past weekend Whitnall Youth Baseball hosted their second fastpitch tournament of the season and the girls U10 team battled their way to a 2nd place finish.  Over the course of the three-day tournament the team went 6-3 including 3-1 on a hot Sunday coming through the loser’s bracket to fight their way into 2nd place.  After dispatching the New Berlin Magic White by run rule in 4 innings (13-1) the girls avenged their first bracket loss from Saturday at the hands of the Kenosha Sting by posting a 6-run sixth inning to win 10-5 going away and get into the championship game.  The fifth game of the day proved too much as the girls battled hard but fell short 7-5.  Throughout the entire weekend the team received great contributions from all the girls.  Playing nine games over three days was a brutal stretch that wouldn’t have been possible if not for the fantastic pitching from the team’s three hurlers – Haley Wynn, Ally Herrmann, and Hannah Winter.  The girls beat teams from Greenfield, Oshkosh (twice), Kenosha, New Berlin, and Menomonee Falls over the three day period and then went out and wrapped up their season on Monday night in their final MMFL doubleheader and swept a pair from the Pride of the Midwest (Brookfield) to finish their season with a 32-15 record and three 2nd place tournament finishes.  All the U10 coaches want to thank each girl for a summer full of great memories that hopefully they will remember for a long time – I know that all of the coaches will.  What a fantastic group of girls with amazing chemistry, fantastic teamwork, and most importantly an immeasurable amount of heart who had a tremendous amount of fun this summer.  Thank you for a fantastic season to (pictured L to R, first row: Elle Wolff, Ally Herrmann, Molly Beacom, Ryleigh Hickman; middle row: Hannah Winter, Abby Cunningham, Haley Wynn, Rachel Rosenwald, Mackenzie Sutton, Hannah Gueller, Emyli Kreiser; top row: Coach Eric Wynn, Coach Tom Hickman, Coach Chris Beacom, Coach Dave Sutton.  Not pictured: Liv Thompson)

U12s Claim LaCrosse Title Print E-mail

After an opening loss and a 10-0 deficit in game two, the U12 boys used solid defense and timely hitting to charge back and win five straight games and the Stars Championship in Lacrosse this weekend.  The wins included a walk-off ending to a 4-3 victory in the semi-finals.  The boys then took an early lead in the championship game and held on for a 10-5 win.  Congratulations to the U12 boys for their first tournament championship!

U13s Repeat as Brookfield Backyard Bash Champions Print E-mail

The U13 boys team followed up its 2nd place finish last month in Germantown by winning the Brookfield Bulldogs Backyard Bash tournament for the second year in a row.  The boys had to play and win four games on Sunday over a tiring 12 hour time frame.  They combined timely hitting with good defense and excellent pitching, only giving up a total of seven runs in these four victories over the Tosa Jr. Raiders, Wisconsin Warriors, Racine Redbirds and Elmbrook Braves.

U14's Take 2nd Place in Waukesha Tournament Print E-mail

The girls overall had a good weekend of fastpitch-softball, outscoring their opponents in pool play 54-9. The semi-final game against the Sussex Sun Devils was a great battle, and we came out with the win on a 2-out bunt that scored the winning run in the last inning. In the championship game against the Pride of the Midwest, we were able to put runners on base, but were not able to bring them across the plate against a team that played mistake free and made key plays on both sides

of the ball. Congratulations girls- We'll get 'em next time!

Boys U-10:  Congratulations to the Whitnall Boys U10s who took 1st Place in the BOSS Memorial Tournament this Memorial Day Weekend. The boys came out strong and played stellar defense and had some timely hitting to secure their first Championship.

Boys U-11: Congratulations to the Whitnall Boys U-11s who went undefeated this weekend en route to the 2011 BOSS Memorial Day Shootout Championship.  With resounding victories over the Elmbrook Braves and the host team Milwaukee BOSS, the U-11’s won a close championship game handing a Janesville squad their first loss of the season.

Boys U-13:  Congratulation to the Whitnall U-13s for going 4-1 and taking second place in the Germantown Memorial Tournament.  They went undefeated in pool play and still had an opportunity to win the championship game when it was halted early due to darkness. Tip of the Week

Coaches,

The next time you're officiating your own team's scrimmage, intentionally make a bad call. Some of your players will react negatively. Call timeout and remind everyone to respect officials, even when disagreeing with the call.
